Want to enjoy the #summerfeels? Let’s start by getting hydrated first!

Summer is more than just another season, it’s an emotion; a time that marks the onset of colors, brightness and freedom. It is the harbinger of long days that are filled with golden light and sun-kissed faces. But with summers comes rising temperatures that can cause heatstroke, exhaustion, allergies and more.

This, of course, can be avoided if one truly understands the idea of staying hydrated throughout the day. Water is a major component of the human body. Without enough water, especially during summer, our bodies tend to get dehydrated, which can lead to many serious health conditions, such as fatigue, dizziness and throbbing headaches as the body does not get enough water to cool down.

To avoid such health issues, here are a few expert tips that will help you enjoy this beautiful season without dehydrating yourself.

Be aware of weather conditions

If it’s cloudy or breezy in the day, do not become lenient. Make sure to apply sunscreen when you step out and carry your water bottle along. High temperature during this season is bound to make your body warm and cause dehydration, regardless of whether you are sitting or working outside.

Drink enough liquids

During summer, make water your BFF! Besides keeping you hydrated throughout the day, it will bring many other benefits too. In just a few days, you’ll be able to notice a huge difference in your skin, hair and your overall health too. You can also add additional beverages such as milk, fruit-infused water and juices to your diet.

Eat food with high water content

It’s true that having way too much water can make you feel a bit uneasy. This is when you should switch to food or fruits with high water content such as watermelon, strawberries and cantaloupe musk melon, mush melon & more. Some other fruits with less water content are pineapple, apples, cherries, plum, etc.

Dress wisely

Be mindful of the material you choose to wear in this season. Always go for 100% cotton fabric & even better fabric with moisture wicking properties and pick clothes that allow air to circulate. Besides cotton, linen and rayon are great choices for summer.

Consider your physical activities carefully

If you are someone who exercises or engages in strenuous physical activities, it is recommended that you drink enough fluids to compensate for the loss. An extra 1.5 to 2.5 cups of water to your daily dose will make up for the loss of water in your body. However, this can slightly vary for those who sweat more.

Summer is a wonderful time to enjoy, explore and do everything that you dream of. However, if you do not give your body the right nutrition and hydration, you will not be able to attain your goals. So, what are you waiting for? Go get that glass of distilled beauty and chug, chug, chug!
